Department of Transportation (DOT) Physicals in Stillwater

Woman receiving a medical consultationThe federal government requires any individual who drives a truck that weighs over 10,000 pounds or that is used for certain types of commercial transport to get periodic Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals to maintain their commercial driver’s license. These physicals can’t be obtained at most primary care doctors’ offices; they can only be performed by examiners who have been certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

Dr. Danial Hall at Hall Family Chiropractic Clinic is certified to provide DOT physicals, and you do not have to be a chiropractic patient to receive a physical.

How to Prepare

The DOT is a short physical examination, so there is no special preparation required. Simply bring your valid driver’s license. Please note that you will be asked to provide a urine sample.

The Process

We’ll greet you and have you fill out the necessary paperwork for your examination. Then Dr. Hall will conduct the examination, which will include:

  • Vision check
  • Hearing check
  • Urine sample
  • Neurological tests
  • Cardio tests, including blood pressure
  • Check reflexes
Dr. Hall will answer all of your questions and talk with you about your results, particularly if there is anything that will prevent you from receiving or renewing your commercial driver’s license.

Fees

Insurance companies consider DOT physicals to be “wellness care,” and consequently, they do not cover these physicals. Many trucking companies pay for their employees’ DOT physicals, so we recommend you check with your employer about their policy. Otherwise, this is a cash service that we offer, and you can call for pricing or with any other questions you may have.
